  2. Hi,Kiran.I am Wei, ;)

Point:Will-power is more important than study skill.

Evidence:Aerbin Group,a company in China. There are very high rewards for every excellent staff in the company so that every staff works hard to get the rewards. Because of this, Aerbin becomes to a very famous company in China.

Explain:Many achiever do not have high talent but they have high will-power so they can try their best on study and work. So they success.

  3. I understood the wrong meaning of willpower.

Point::Will-power is more important than study skill.

Evidence:The marshmallow experiment show that the child who have higher willpower can be more excellent in the furture study and work.

Explain:That mean that a person who has high willpower can persist in their study and work. And also she or he can refuce the negative things in their life better. So willpower id more important than study skill.

(But I think we also need to train good habits in our life.In my opinion, training good hobits is more important than willpower.)
    That all,thanks.

  4. Hi, Kiran

    I am Ben!

Point:Study skills are more important than will-power.

Evidence: the extracts of this essay
"In their book Change Anything, habits researcher Kerry Patterson and his colleagues explain how they took this a step further, teaching kids some basic distraction skills, such as mouthing the words to their favourite bedtime story. Marshmallow resistance rates shot up. "
"Formulate a rule, being as specific as possible: "If I find myself stumbling exhausted to the sofa, then I'll put on my running shoes and walk at least as far as the street." True, a strong will makes it more likely you'll follow the rule. But merely knowing that you need to formulate one in the first place – a skill – makes a huge difference. In one study, it increased the proportion of people who stuck to an exercise plan from 39% to 91%."

Explain:The first extract means that the children who learned a skill instead of relying on willpower can resist lure as well.
The second extract means that a skill is used by establish a foundation of rule in life and the will make us obey the rule.the data obviously showed that using a skill to formulate a rule can improve the persistence of action dramatically.

  5. Dear Kiran

    I am Ken

Point: Study skills are more important than will-power.

    Evidence:
In a 1965 study , it emerged that a child's ability to resist temptation, though supposedly based on will, could be influenced by comments made by experimenters, within earshot, about the benefits of postponing pleasure.
Research has shown that the children hadn't received a magic will-power injection.
    They'd simply learned a skill.

Explain: The research described the information about children can not withstand entice; however, if someone teach children some of skill of basic distraction, then, may be children can withstand entice. At the last of the second paragraph that Patterson says, the challenges to people think of as requiring will might really be a matter of basic skills.

    1. I almost agree with Ken's point, but I think the evidence is not very sufficient.

Because this evidence only explain the action of skill study, there is no comparism with wii-power.Therefore,it cannot decide which is more important,so that it cannot support his point.

  6. Richard here. This view that 'you can do anything with the right attitude' is a popular theory today, and probably a healthy mindset. But the danger is that people underestimate the importance of both natural abilty and training in achieving their goals. Take all those gold medal athletes, for example. They could not have achieved their success without this 'can do' mindset. But they also wouldn't be in the Olympics unless they were pretty fortunate - both genetically and in the receipt of about £2 million pounds per athlete in support and coaching.

  7. Point: Study skills are less important than will-power.

Evidence: Research has shown that will-power just like a muscle and it is hard to be strengthened. People can only increase their muscle day by day.It is a long time and hard working. Although many people know how important is the will-power and the way to increase their will-power, they cannot insist to strength it everyday.
And people can study a skill for their life-long time. People always learn a skill with a short time. In other word, they can be a perfect study skill learner within one week.

Explain: This means that for most people, they know the study skill because it is easy to learn all the study skill. But only a few people can get success. I think it is because only a few people do really have strengthened their will-power. The reason why will-power is much more important than study skill is as result of good will-power is hard to achieve and only a few people have the real will-power.

  8. Dear Kiran

    I am Edward

Point:Study skills are more important than will-power

Evidence:Albert Bandura and Walter Mischel's study in 1965 showed that that a child's ability to resist temptation, though supposedly based on will, could be influenced by comments made by experimenters, within earshot, about the benefits of postponing pleasure.

Explain:It is obvious that the children hadn't get any unbelievable will-power injection, even a workout to their will-power muscles, but they had directly learned a skill. So it is believed that study skill plays a much important role in our live, which means study skill is more significant than will-power.

  9. Dear Kiran

    I am Alvin

Point:study skills are much important than will-power

Evidence:Research show that will-power has a limit actually by with the psychologist Veronika Job.Will-power depents on our biology.

Explain:It seems that teenagers do not recive some information about the will-power.Nonetheless compare with study skills, learning some study skills is more suitable for them.

    2. I agree zifan's point; however, I think his evidence is not strong to support his point.

And explain is not clear and academic.

So, I think you should give us more evidence and explain why you agree this point.

  10. Dear Kiran

    I am Jimmy

Point:Will-power is more important than study skills.

Evidence:Nowadays people believe that will-power is not limit.Because when we do some strenuous mental task,it will encourage us to complete much further challenging activities.

Explain:In recenr years, humanity has learnt plenty of kownledge about study skills.People need a new way to boost efficiency in studying. In my view,it is a shortcut to achieve it by will-power.

  11. Dear Kiran

    I am Zhebotian

Point: Study skills are more important than will-power.

    Evidence:
There was a experiment result showed in 1965 that childeren could delay their gratification and resist the temptation by the distraction made within the earshot.
There was also a research showed by the Change Anything Labs that people could change their habits by the method called the "crucial rules" ,which requred to formulate a "if then" rule in the first place.

    Explain:
The childen did not need to have a strong will to prevent themselves from the lure, instead, they just needed to learn a skill that can trigger their strong mind.
And also, changing habit is not just simply obey the plan made before, instead, people could formlate a proper and crucial movemnt to notify themselves to achieve their goals.
By the evidences and analysis shown abovn, I believe that study skills are more important than will-power.

Point: Study skills are more important than will-power.

Evidence: Peter M. Gollwitzer believes that after learning "if
-then" rules ,people who stuck to an exercise plan from 39% to 91%.

Explain: This means that "if-then" rule assist 52% of people use willpower to complete exercise ,which only 39% before.Study skills such as "if -then" rules enable to reinforce willpower. Therefore,Study skills are more important than will-power.

  13. Hi,Kiran.
    Wei,come here again.

Point:Good habits is more ipmortant than both of them.

Evdience:In Golnaz Tabibnia's opiniom, habits have more power than Will-power. If you have a good habits, you can do that without thinking. But also,if you have a bad habits, your will-power will seems very week.

Explain: So, we need to develop our good habits.Sometimes we can not be very confident in our will-power.

But I think the evidence which was given by Wei should be more completed, for example, date. And the relationship between evidence and explain could be closed.
